Internet Woe in RH 9.0
I have a Compaq Presario 2100 laptop that I was able to successfully configure to dual boot RedHat 9.0 and WinXP home. I've been a Linux user for approximately 6 days now, and have developed a problem with my internet connection. I can successfully connect to my university's network by browsing through servers, and mess with people's shared folders, I cannot access any internet websites. I continually get a "Could not contact host." error message. I have messed with my firewall configuration, not disabling it, but ensuring that the level has not changed from medium, deleted and re-installed my ethernet adapter, which I set to automatically resolve my settings, tried manually setting myself up to my university's network (I think), and everything else I could think of. I have rather run out of ideas, and wonder if anyone has any advice for me?
Addendum: I have a wireless 802.11b card that I use with my Windows XP when in class. I booted up RH in class, without an ethernet connection, but with the wireless card inserted, to demonstrate some rudimentary operations for someone that was curious about Linux, and I believe this event may be responsible for disabling my internet. What's is the likelihood of this being correct?
