internet speed

Hi, I'm new to the forum and linux. I just installed ubuntu 6.10. The problem I'm having is that the internet is pretty slow. On windows xp it would take maybe 1-5 seconds to load a page, with ubuntu it's taking upwards of a minute plus. I use the same brower for both, firefox. I have searched and found some people with the same problems and some solutions, but I'm not smart enough to figure out what to do or if the problem is caused by the same thing mine is. If anyone would like to point me in the right direction, with some specific details on what I should do. I would appericate that.

Thanks

I have seen this before, but I do not remember any details.

It would help if you would post the solution(s) that you have found, and tell what part you don't understand.

Go here www.speedtest.net and test your connection first to make sure its not a bottleneck upstream somewhere.

My latest test...

Hi

This sounds like the issue with IPv6. To disable it, check this out:

Hope this helps.
