Internet slow with GNOME
Hello,
I've just switched to GNOME from KDE, and I'm finding the Internet very slow. I've also tested out other desktops like XFCE, WindowMaker, etc... they all handle the Internet really fast... so what's up with my GNOME? Oh yes, I'm running a Slackware 9 system... Thanks |
is this a dial up or broadband connection you are using??
if it's dial up check the modem speed settings under the setup tab in the kppp "connect" dialogue box if it reads connection speed 57600 then change it up to 115,200 |
Hi there,
Actually, it's a DSL connection I'm dealing with. With my old Slackware 8.1 (KDE) system, I could download in the 100K/s range; but now that I'm using Slackware 9 with GNOME, it's stuck around the 10K/s mark. Thanks |
ouch!
