Question internet sharing

I just buyd a new computer ... and i want to share my internet connection within the local network in my home ... As I only have 2 computers ... I understand its not necessarily to make a proxy server and that there is a solution with NAT and iptables or somethin ...
I use gentoo linux ... and all my computers are connected with a switch ...
I have another problem ... when i activate eth1 ( the second ethernet connection) the applications that use the internet wont work anymore ... how can i fix that?

I cannot tell for sure if you have a router. I don't know how to use 2 computers on one internet connection without one.
Assuming you already have one, how is it configured?
