I currently have no firewall or intivirus on my lubuntu 14.04. Can someone walk me through how to set these up? As always, thanks for your help. I just love this system the would never have been able to set it up without your support.

I think you'll find there is a firewall installed, it's disabled by default. Follow the instructions below to enable it:

It's advisable to turn on the firewall (it's disabled by default):

Menu button - Accessories - LXTerminal

Copy/paste this command into the terminal:

sudo ufw enable

Press Enter. Type your password when prompted; this will remain entirely invisible, not even dots will show, this is normal. Press Enter again.

Now check the firewall status. Copy/paste into the terminal:

sudo ufw status verbose

Press Enter.

As for antivirus. You really don't need it unless you intend on sharing files with other windows users. If that is the case you can install any of the ones listed here: Antivirus programs
