Internet Radio on an embedded system

Hi all,

I've only ever dabbled with Linux, so I'm still quite the newb and I appologise in advance if my terminology is a bit off.

I have a problem (a Uni project) at the moment and was hoping someone could point me in the right direction or start me off.

I've been assigned to take an embedded system (Puppeteer), port Linux on to it, and set up it up to receive and play Internet Radio.

The problem I find is that I can only find general information about audio streaming, etc. When what I'm really looking for is a nice technical guide on MCP and driver tweaking.

This is the jist of what I need to do, does anyone know any good technical guides for this kind of thing?

Any help would be much appreciated,
Perdix.

If you only need to play ShoutCast steams from an Internet server, then you can just install MPlayer or mpg123 and feed them the URL.

Though I suspect you probably need to do something more advanced than just that.

Yeah, I don't think I am allowed to use any audio players to sort it for me

My lecturers are always pretty vague when it comes to these assignments, as if it's supposed to come naturally to us (I'm more of a software developer).

Well, from what I've dug up so far, I know I need to install an MCP driver (on port 4 on the Puppeteer).

I believe I have found an MCP driver;
http://www.gelato.unsw.edu.au/lxr/so...d/mcp-sa11x0.c
but do not know where to go from here.

So basically, what must I do in order to install this driver on my embedded device? (I've got Linux already running on it, although I currently cannot remember the version number).

BTW, the sa11x0 is the correct architecture (ARM)

Thanks,
Perdix.
