internet on linux
I recently got mandrake Linux 9.1, and I am enjoying it so far, but I can't figure out how to get online with it. I called up aol, because they're my isp (for now) to ask them if they could help, but they said it was impossible to get aol onto a linux system; so I asked them if I could just dial it up on linux and not use the actual AOL software, but they said that's impossible too. So I was just wondering what isp all of you people with Linux use, because this is really frustrating me.

anything other than aol and msn will work

Hi Stalfoskp
A couple of things to keep in mind regards Linux and the internet
I'm not syre about ISP's - what country are you in? |
user any service where you have to set up the dial up service that doesnt use a GUI interface to log on to the net. That will fix it or upgrade to dsl ;)

pengaol...oops, just learned it is peng, AOL forced them to stop using AOL in the name. The link talks about 9.0, but I suspect 9.1 will work as well.
http://www.mandrakeforum.com/article.php?sid=2462 or http://www.peng.apinc.org/eng/ After you get it working, call them up and tell them Linux works great with AOL when using PENG. Should really shake their support groups belief that only Windows is a valid OS. :) |
LOL! I gotta save this link for my LINUX buddies that use AOL.
