[SOLVED] Internet connectivity issue in Ubuntu 10.10

Just installed Ubuntu 10.10 on dual boot computer. Each OS is on separate hard drive with GNOME selection between Ubuntu and Windows 7 Ultimate. Firefox was working fine yesterday when I went to use today, nothing. Email through Thunderbird is down as well. Any ideas as to a fix? A very newbie in this game.

Try unplugging the internet stuff, waiting a bit, then plugging it in again.

Does Firefox's screen come up? Generally a few more details perhaps??

Hey just got a chance to read over your reply to my internet conundrum and though I didn't go as far as powering down the modem (cable modem box), I did turn the computer off and then did a manual reset of the modem. When I powered up the computer and logged into Ubuntu, my internet connection was restored and Firefox came back to life. So here's hoping that the next time it decides to not go onto the net I can do the same thing.
