Internet connection slow, locks up
Upon further inspection, I have figured out that it is possibly not a RAM issue, as it just did the same thing with 20 MB of RAM free (only running on 256 MB). I will try to post a message on a forum or a number of other things, and it will just take a long time until I finally just try to close the screen and start over. After I click the X, it won't do anything for about 5 or 10 seconds, then it will give me this message.
Warning - KWin Window with title "Yahoo! - Mozilla Firefox" is not responding. This window belongs to application firefox-bin (PID=11773, hostname=localhost). Do you wish to terminate this application? (All unsaved data in this application will be lost.) Sometimes, it will start working right afterwards, but it is very inconsistent. |
misc. thoughts :
note : (*if there is another thread dealing with this particular problem i did not look for it first.*) Sounds like you are waiting on a network response, get tired of waiting and close firefox while firefox is waiting on a network response and ignoring your mouse... are you having a DNS problem? - try using your own dns server I have no problems on my linux box or on an 98 box using the linux for dns, but the XP computer using the my ISP dns servers has timeouts a couple times a week. is this the ipv6 delay see this post ? what else is your box doing at the time? - when yum update is running, my box is really slow.... |
