Internet connection sharing - simple Mepis 8.0.12


Hello ,

My friend and i share ADSL internet connection , but now he using simple mepis 8.012 (KDE, debian base) and direct connect to ADSL modem ,
with eth1 ---> pppoe
and
eth0 ---> LAN
He ask me for help but i'm not familiar with KDE , guardog as firewall and debian. But i was enable to enable pppoe internet connection , but unable to share internet connection to my old PC. So if anybody know how to done it , by set iptables or anything , i will appreciate it very much.

You would need to setup a gateway. Check out this links or do a google for "linux gateway" to serve your needs.

Have a look at Guidedog. It's available in Synaptic & I think it's what you're after for configuring iptables.

I think , i prefer manual firewall, with set masq. a couple allow and deny, also ip forwarding. But i will try your suggestion , thanks.
