internet connection sharing

ok got redhat 7.1 up and running its got 2 nics in it (192.168.1.1 and 192.168.1.2) i want to be able to dialup with ppp0 and share that connection with the other 2 computers i have connected to my computer, eventually i am going to get a hub but for now they are directly connected to it, i need to know how to set it up so i can connect to the internet and share/route that connection to the other computers currently on my network. Ideas?

get connected....

http://axion.physics.ubc.ca/ppp-linux.html

router.....

setup iptables for masq, once you get it setup you can do things like port forwarding, which you will not be able to do otherwise.
required for some things to work.

network file shares....

setup samba so you can view everything in network neighborhood and share files.

maximize speed.....

setup a dns server, and squid proxy.

maximize your connection on your windows boxes by trying tweeks to the tcp window size, mtu and browser server settings in the registry.

That's how you change it.

Everything has to get started somehow.

What's wrong with that?

If you are using roaring penguin just clamp mss at 1412 and leave the interface at the default mtu 1500
