Internet conection thru win XP PC for Fedors 4

My internet conection is thru a wireless router. My win xp PC has a wireless card to connect to the router and it also has a lan card. I have bridged the wireles lan and lan card so I can ping it from my Fedora 4 linux PC using its lan connection. The wireless cards ip is 192.186.0.xxx and the router is 192.168.0.1. the Lan on the win xp pc is 192.168.1.xxx and on the Linux macchine is 192.168.1.xxy. Since I can ping the router from the Linux PC, I though I should be able to connect to the internet thru it. So far I have had no luck. Is it possile to connect to the internet this way? and if so, what to I need to setup on the Linux PC?

Thanks for any help.

I suspect it is because you did not set your bridge up correctly.
All devices should be in the same address range, ie 192.168.0.xxx or 192.168.1.xxx not a mix of both.
Bridges a transparent devices. In other words you do not really need to give them an IP address. However if you need to connect to them for admin or in the case where the device hosts other services then they would need one.

Also,
Did you set a gateway address on the linux machine. It would be the IP address of the router.
And you will need to tell the linux machine where to do DNS resolution. Either the DNS address of your ISP or your router if it is capable.

If possible you should not use your xp machine as a bridge. It is not the best platform for doing this sort of stuff.

thanks

I di not have the DNS address set. when I entered the DNS address I was able to acess the Insternet. The bridge on the win xp machine did bridge the 192.168.0.xxx and 192.168.1.xxx networks.

Thanks for the help
