Question Internet browser CRASH!

Hi,

I use Red Hat 9.0, and use latest version of Firefox(Ver 2.0.0.11) to browse the net. The browser crashes the moment it tries to use flashplayer to display images.
No error messages or anything. the browser just disappears abruptly.

If i disable flashplayer plugin, everything works just fine. I also tried netscape navigator (older version 7), and that also crashes just like Firefox. I don't think the problem is with either the browser or the flash plugin. It's somewhere else.

Any suggestions regarding where and what might be the problem?

Thanks for your time,
Sety.

First, Red Hat 9 is ancient, second, which version of Flash are you running?

firefox crash

Well, I use Ubuntu and every version I've tried has had the same problem. I'm currently using Kubuntu 7.10 and I found that what I needed to do was delete the libflashplayer.so file from my home folder's /.mozilla/plugins folder. That has pretty much done the trick. I have no idea why, but it did it. Of course the file is still in the /usr/lib/mozilla and /usr/lib/firefox folders. I'm not sure why it get's thrown everywhere when you install it, but it does.

Good luck.
