intel architecture dnlds work for athlon?

I wonder what kind of rpm's I should be downloading that will work on my AMD AthlonXP. Does the file have to be a .athlon.rpm ? or can I use such files of the type i386.rpm ? Perhaps I need to use the .src.rpm ones.

-Thanks!

PS- I'm trying to download the new up2date. I need to know this because all of the files for RH 9 are i386.rpm.

you can use i386 for sure.
basically cuz you already are using red hat 9, it won't make a difference what architecture you use (i3,4,5,686).

red hat is not optimized whatsoever for your box, it will be slow compared to something like Jamd (based on rh9) or gentoo or lfs.

do NOT use the src ones unless you plan on recompiling them first.

see the below links for more details
