Intel® PRO/Wireless 2200BG in Mandriva 2008

Hi,

I would like to have some help on installing my wireless card. I am a newbie with linux and I am not familiar with installing drivers yet. I installed Mandriva 2008 powerpack in an ACER Aspire 5500z. All drivers are loaded except wireless and the bluetooth. I would apreciate any step by step help. Thank you.

Did you enabled it? I am using Ubuntu 7.10, i have no problem with it.

In Mandriva you need to install a package from PLF repository called "ipw2200-firmware" or similar. After installing it with URPMI you can configure your wireless network and link up.
If you don't have any other way of putting Mandriva on-line to install that package, download the noarch package with Windows or whatever and install it with RPM. Lots of on-line documentation on how to use URPMI and RPM.

I was using Mandriva 2008 Powerpack and I had no problems, the driver was installed. Though, the free edition does not and the easy way to do it was the urpmi and it worked. But the problems that it did not work for me at the first place, because of sth else. Thank you guys anyway. I appreciate your help.
