instead of recompile
I want to make sure my kernel knows my cpu is althon. How do I change the cpu module to get my kernel to use the amd althon instead of the intel one it uses?
Must I recomile my kernel, or can I just open a mod, fix it, and be done with it. I have heard that mandrake will let me do this without recompiling. Any thopughts? For the first time I do this a GUI would be nice. thanks machiner |
Pretty sure the only way you can change what the kernel thinks is by recompiling the kernel. Certain packages can be built using the -march option, however it doesnt change what you kernel thinks.
