Installing XMMS

I am tryin to install XMMS and I keep getting the error

"no acceptable C compiler found in $PATH"

It is likely that me and everyone else will need a little more information.

What distro are you using?
What is included in your path? 'echo $path'

I extracted the XMMS tar file and the folder is on my desktop with all the XMMS files in it. Then I just ran ./configure.

Nice see you answered the questions musicman asked, very helpful...

In whatever distrobution you're using since you won't tell us which one it is, open your package manager (the program that installs other programs) and install everything in the development category.

You are missing the gcc compiler. Install that and other missing packages that will be listed when you run ./configure.
