Installing xmms

i am running Mandrake 9.1. I want to install xmms 1.2.8 but my glib needed to be installed. I downloaded pkgconfig and glib source and followed the instructions. Yet, when I try installing xmms from the source, it says that glib was not found and I needed to add the path in the prefix.

Does any one know where is glib installed by default ?

glib should be installed by default, and most distros offer xmms. To find glib try 'whereis glib' or 'locate glib'. Check the installation cd for xmms.
