Installing Xfce..(never ending circle)

Hi, I installed Mandrake 2006 (3 disks) on laptop (P3 650 MHz, 128mb RAM) and want to install Xfce!!
To do it, i need to install Gtk+ 2.2 or above, and before it, i need to install GLib, Pango, and Atk libraries.
So, started with Atk, and after i typed "make" in terminal, i get
"bash: make: command not found"
?? Why that?
Is there some easy way to install Xfce? Because now it seems like before install Xfce i need to install this, but before do it i need to install thouse libraries, but before do that, i need to install this, but before i installed that, and before... Mandrake is "out-of-box" distro, isn`t it? Why it even doesn`t understand "make" command?
Please, i need help on this!

PS: I remember, in Windows, when i wanted to instal Gimp, i needed Gtk too, so just downloaded .exe file, run it and that all!

Check in the mcc software installer. There may already be a package for Xfce. It should pick up the dependencies you need. It's possible that you didn't download all of the disks and Xfce was on one of the others.

Another alternative is to go to http://www.pbone.net. They have a feature that analysis your system. If you need something else, a link to that package is highlighted.
