installing windows after linux
 

is it possible to install windows\after ubuntu??my windows XP os has got a worm lsass which does not boot it.i hav to reinstall it.my friends tell me i cant boot linux if i reinstall windows.is it true?they also say some commands can fix it....can u giv me the commands??i run gutsy

put in ubuntu cds again,"type grub-install /dev/hda or /dev/sda" if scsi. you will get ur bootloader back.

I recently tried to install Fedora 10 live and screwed all my computer.. :-(.

I planned to install xp 64bit, I brought a w$indows DVD and started my installation process.. After taking backup of important data.. I repartitioned my hard-drive... 40 GB each.. Till now I had lost all data in pc.. Now i inserted my winDVD .. and my pc complained about a corrupt media.. I decided to install Fedora first and installed it on sda1 and then I changed my mind and installed win32bit on fedora . and then I realized that my MBR was overwritten my w$ndows.. I went to rescue mode and tried to restore my Grub.. but useless..

grub-install /dev/sda

it reported that task was done without any error and i rebooted.. on loading gurb.. it showed me menu

1-Fedora
2-Other

Nothing worked.. it showed me some error 15.. file not found sort of thing!!!

then aahhhhhh!!!


I reinstalled Fedora 9 again and then installed W$indows 32bit again...

I didn't like Fedora live with very limited resources .. no openoffice, no vim but vi and etc..

Moral of the story is, if you don't know exactly what you'll have to do after installing xp on Fedora.. then don't mess up your system..

I lost all my updated things.. and I have to update my system again of about 600MBs with a 15kb lan connection!! yes I said 15Kbs....:-)... it will take about 13 hours to complete..

Yes it is.
Install win xp.
Then boot ubuntu live cd and from the terminal

sudo grub
find /boot/grub/stage1 (with what this outputs use in the next step)
root (hdx,y)
setup (hd0)
quit

Reboot and you should be good to go, some info on grub.
