Installing video driver in a ubuntu

Hey guys whats the best way to install a nvadia driver in Ubuntu?

go to nvidia's driver site, download the drivers, and open a terminal. type "init 1". your X server will shut down, and you will log in as root. Then execute the file you downloaded.

note: If you haven't done so already, open a root terminal and set up a root password so you can log in.
note 2: Before doing this, install the kernel headers for your kernel.
