Installing Ubuntu into Acer Aspire
Hi,
I'm having problems trying to install Ubuntu 10.04 into my Acer Aspire laptop using a pre loaded memory stick. When the install button is pressed an error sign says "metalink is missing".Is there a way around this or better still a way of removing windows altogether and start from scratch? regards tondon777 |
-if you get to ubuntu installation screen, try running meduim check.
-If there is already an OS on your hard drive, this shouldn't be a problem. |
Hi,
Thanks YOOY for your reply but unfortunately it doesnt get as far as a startup screen- perhaps its something to do with windows? regards tondon |
what exactly do you mean by startup screen?

Hi Vooy,
Thanks for your reply perhaps I should try and explain a bit better- the machine starts and runs on windows xp home edition and I have loaded Ubuntu 10.04 onto the hard drive which shows a window which says "you are about to install ubuntu" But when I press install an error menu appears saying "cannot install metalink is missing". Do you think maybe windows has a link missing? regards tondon |
