installing ubuntu 14.04 LTS dual boot with Windows 7


Hi,

I am installing ubuntu 14.04 LTS dual boot with my windows 7. I have an HP pavilion g6 RAM 4GB and DD 500GB but I have encounter severals problems when installing.
1- the grub does t start after installing. its starts directly on ubuntu
2- When I issue the command sudo fdisk -l its give a partition problem from a live cd

In addition when i saw the partition table it give this results from a live CD

Please. can some one give me an assistance to terminate the process of installation. Thanks a lot.

If you do not see an entry for windows when booting, the first step to try to eliminate the problem is to run: sudo update-grub; watch the output for a windows entry.

If that doesn't help, you can try reviewing the tutorial below for installing Ubuntu 14.04 which is very detailed and includes a section on dual booting. Compare the steps suggested in the tutorial to what you did.

If you are still unable to resolve the problem, I would suggest you do an online search for "boot repair ubuntu" and go to the site and download and run the script. Make sure you select the option to Create Bootinfo summary" rather than trying to do any repairs. This will output a lot of information which should be helpful in trying to resolve the problem. Post a link to the output here.
