Installing to same drive as where the install files are

I am trying to install Debian Lenny from a Compact Flash card. I want to install TO the compact flash card as well.. When I reach the 'partition disk' part of the install, I use the guided option and it fails saying that the disk is locked. I believe this is because the disk is locked by the installer..

Is there any way around this? The most annoying thing is that the first time I ran the installer, there was an option to partition "the largest contiguous free area" of memory and now that option has disappeared!

Any help appreciated, thanks.

If the disc or the partition is mounted- it will be locked and must be unmounted while in Gparted(right click-unmount). If you cannot do this, you need to prepare the partitions first by booting with a live version of gparted (I use parted magic).
