Installing third party software with live CDs

I'm new to linux and I'm playing around with a few live CDs. Yesterday I was trying to install Macromedia Flash in Konqueror (in Kubuntu), but I couldn't. I'm wondering if I couldn't install it because I did something wrong, or simply because it's impossible to install anything while using a live CD. (quite plausible, of course)

I've been able to save a few things--the Flash installer one of them--to the desktop, so there must be some sort of temporary space on my hard drive or something.

It has writable space, using ramdisk. It's not big, however. Flash may be simply too big. What's more, after reboot it'll be gone. Flash would like to write to system directories, which are read-only. If you tell it to install in the writable ones, it should work. Hint: writable have (rw) in the last column of the 'mount' command result.

Just to be clear, I meant Flash Player. Not sure if that came across or not.
