Question installing the intel 910GMS driver from the source code

hi,

i m trying to install the driver for my intel 910GMS chipset in UBUNTU on my laptop -- i ve set it up to dual boot --

i downloaded the sourcecode for the driver from the intel website, using git -- however, i dont see any instructions on how to install the driver or where the code has been downloaded...i used the following command:
Quote:
git-clone git://anongit.freedesktop.org/git/xorg/driver/xf86-video-intel
Thanks,
Ashlesha

Usually if you change to the directory you downloaded from git there will be a README file with instructions for how to install the driver. Generally you use "make" to build the kernel module and then insmod it into your kernel,

Question

Hi,

After reading the existing config file, this is what i found out -- ubuntu is already using the required i-810 driver however, i need to add mroe screen resolution options: the res i want is 1280x800 ...
so i ran the driver setup by running this command given in the xconf.org file:

Quote:
sudo dpkg-reconfigure -phigh xserver-xorg
here i selected the resolutions that I wanted and Unselected the resolution options that I did not want! -- so there was just one resolution option checked --

despite this, when i go to system - preferences - screen resolution -- i cannot see the resolution options that i want!!
How do i correct this?

Thank you -
Ashlesha.
