Installing tgz file


Hello!
I am new to linux and have kubuntu 12.04 and need to get python 2.5.4(from)[URL="http://www.python.org/download/releases/2.5.4/"[/URL]
I can get it to extract for ark to a home folder but can't figure it out past there.

Thank you for any help!

You will always be better off using the package manager for your distribution as that will take care of possible problems with compatibility. I am not a Kubuntu user so I don't know if it has the Software Manager or synaptic or if it uses something else. You will have to look. If for some reason you need that specific version of python, after extracting it you should have a README file or some file with documentation or instructions.
