Installing Slackware questions about floppy

Hello all,

I have been using Suse 8.0 for about a year but the PC I am running it on is getting low on space. I would like to set up this box as a stand alone LAMP web server/test my script box. I have been looking at Slackware because all the small distros are not very user friendly(not the best description). Anyway if I download the ISO for Slack9.1 do I need to download the floppy images also? This has been confusing, also I don't completely understand the software packages. Any help would be appreciated.

Sincerely,

Daniel Allan

No, you just need the CD iso's. The confusion probably comes from the fact that Slackware used to be distributed on floppies and a legacy of that is that the packages are all still grouped according to the floppy they used to be on.

The slackware book (at their website) is very good on how to install Slack.
