installing rpms

I am running an older version of YDL (Yellow Dog, version 3.1) on an old Powerbook G3. I am wondering what the procedure is for installing RPMs. Any assistance is appreciated.

procedure I use is rpm -ivh something.rpm

"man rpm" has a lot of info on how to use the rpm command. Also take a look at
