installing red hat linux 9 from scratch...

Hi All,

I just bought a brand new dell inspiron 1000 with xp installed.

I have a red hat linux 9 cd that I want to install on this computer.

I would ideally like the computer to boot up then ask me if I would like to run windows or linux.

I would be very grateful if someone could point me in the right direction to get me started.

I am going to document every step I take in this thread so that it may help other readers.

Please note: The laptop does not have a floppy drive.

All help is much appreciated.

Both discuss dual booting. I would also suggest that you do a search using the words dual and boot as this is a question that comes up many times.

You should know that redhat 9 is no longer active, the newest is fedora 2 (redhat' personal turned into fedora)
