installing red hat 9.1 in dual boot mode
 

hi everybody!
i m a newbie here
i m having problems in installing red hat linux 9.1
actually i want to install linux in logical drive e.what
number of hda is it hda3 or hda5.

also do i need to delete my fat32 e drive bfore installing linux.partition gives first option b4 druid and fdisk.

how do i create / and swap?my e drive is of 6.91 gb.ram is 128 mb.

will 300 mb swap work?in that it is showing some kind of add,edit,delete partition.

also what to do in network questions about ip adrress and subnet mask as while installing linux i don't have internet connection but plan to take it after installing linux.

what to do in x monitor and other x?

is it necessary to create user account apart from superuser even if only 1 user uses it?

i have win98 and xp installed already.c drive is primary and d is logical.i have total 40 gb hd capacity.

help me.i m at my wit's end.

Ummmm... there is no Red Hat 9.1... it ended at red Hat 9 and then moved on to Fedora Core 1... as for whether it is hda3 or hda5 look at the size of the partition.. that should be a good indicator... You do not need to delete your "E:" partition because linux will do it for you when it formats the partition as Ext3... Good luck though!

try not to delete windows because as you have said
you cannot connect to the internet using linux

you can create / swap and /boot using disk druid or fdisk

yes 300 swap space is enough

networking is another topic try installing it first one step
at a time in internet connection try downloading a driver
first and compile your kernel

actually...RedHAt is marketed differently in different countries.

For example...is China there is REDHAT 10

Like you just heard, in India is called Redhat 9.1


so...don't be surprised if you hear these things around....they do exist, hehehhee.
