Installing Red Hat 8 over Mandrake 8.2
Please note: this is a bit of a timesaver question....
I am about to install Red Hat 8 on the partition currently used by Mandrake 8.2. I am confident about the actual install, but would just like to ask - is it better to do an fdisk/mbr and flatten the partition first (whether with fdisk or Partition Magic 7) or will Red Hat quite happily do all that for me? As I said at the top of the post, I am asking this to save me a bit of time - I'd rather know beforehand than go through the install and have to redo it. Thanks |
:) Red Hat will be glad to format Mandrake for you:D

Done it - apart from a few small problems ie freezing during graphical install, having to switch to text install (shame, the graphical one is very nice looking) and having to manuall y partition with Partition Manager (I think that ME and Mdk joined to mess up my boot partition) I now have linux up and running. Already I have run Up2Date and am doing this post through Mozilla.
Yay me!! |
 Yay you
