Installing Programs/Using YUM

My main problem with Linux is that I don't know how to install anything. I asked a friend and he said "use yum." So I look up how to use yum and I get the typical "to use (such and such) type this..."

1. Where the heck do I "type" stuff like this.
2. How do I install programs, RPM or not.
3. I tried to run the Limewire RPM, it (appeared to) work, but I don't know how to open the dang program. It's under my applications menu, and I click on it and *nothing* happens.

Sorry to come off as a total noob, but that's what I am, and thanks for any help.

Hi Don Cherry,

Easy, in the terminal. Should be in your menu items.

In Fedora Core 3 you can use RPMs or Source files. RPM is the easist form.

Yes I did hear there was a problem with the RPM install, there is however a .bin version on the net, try google.
