Installing programs, Slack 9.1, KDE

Well. Here I am again. Sure to figure it out on my own, but posting anyway, jsut in case their is a better way.

Problem:
I do cd on the file I want to install (in this case gphoto2).
then I do ./confugure
this is what I get

me@blah~/gphoto2-2.1.3$ ./configure
checking for a BSD-compatible install... /usr/bin/ginstall -c
checking whether build environment is sane... configure: error: newly created file is older than distributed files!
Check your system clock

does it mean its already installed? because I have NO clue as to where to find it.

you probably have your clock wrong, is the output of date correct?

Conpen2000 01-05-2004 04:19 PM

Yeah, clocks probably wacko. It thinks its Dec. 29th, and 15:03. Any ideas as to getting it off of military time so I can correct my clock? And, just curious, does the clock have to mirror the BIOS clock for me ot be able to install apps?

>> does the clock have to mirror the BIOS clock for me ot be able to install apps?

i don't think so, your system date must be before the date that the aplication files were created, that's why it gives that error

to change your date see this thread:
