Installing over old programs??

Hello there fellow linux pals,

I have only been using linux for around 5 months so im such a noob, but the thing is i recently downloaded the recent release of mozilla and tried to install it over my old version, it worked for that session but once i logged in again it reverted back to the old version, is there any way that i could make this permanent.

any help would be great

using RH 9

rpm -Uvh mozilla....

That will update the RPM as opposed to installing a duplicate.
