Installing nVidia Drivers

I have a GeForce 6800 and I have just installed Debian Etch. The X Server won't work unless I get a better driver. When I download the linux driver from nVidia.com, it want to compile a kernel interface and I don't know how. I downloaded the nvidia-glx and I don't know how to run this. Can anyone help me?

Replace "apt-get" with "aptitude" in the howto. aptitude is the preferred debian package handler now a days.

Just answer yes and let it compile what it needs. It will do it all for you as long as you have the needed development tools in place.
