Installing NVIDIA Drivers
i got the driver to install, but i cant seem to edit the x86config file.. i can open it by just double clicking the icon or right clicking and selecting gedit or one of the other programs, but i cant type anything in it or change it at all.. any ideas?
ive got the icon with the keys in the lower right hand corner if that means anything... also im using redhat 9.0 |
It would probly be better to do it from the command line. just type vi <filename> to open it in the shell text editor.

also, make sure you have the permissions to write to the file using chmod. Im not sure if you can even edit the x86config file with x running. You might have to boot into text mode to do this. At least thats what I was in when I installed my nvidia drivers.
