Installing new video card "modconf: command not found"
 

Evening all,
I've just put in a Voodoo 3 3000 16mb card into my computer in an attempt to correct an onboard video card problem, and I seem to be getting more and more problems, the display managers are not starting up and the text loading of the linux program takes a l-o-n-g time, anyway, I typed in "modconf" in the cd / directory and got this back

bash: modconf: command not found

Now is that just me putting in something wrong, n00b stylee, or is there something seriously wrong.

I'm also interested in installing Debian FROM SCRATCH, (thats how much this computer is bugging me) I'm not quite sure how to do it, as I have been cloning Debian from other computers, which has hazards I have discovered. Anyway any help would be appreciated,

Hello all,
Well a great example of how to prove myself a NooBeeee, in case any other mutually minded people out there get the same problem, try this "sudo modconf" and if you can't do any other commands either just try the "sudo ...." command, basically if you have set up users on your linux, unless your in the root account, you are unable to access certain commands, the sudo command cleverly bypasses this and allows you to run the program.
User accounts are a bummer to use BTW. Especially if the old admin-techie won't tell you the root password..... :mad:
