Unhappy Installing MySQL, can't find .bash_profile to edit!

I'm installing snort on my RedHat 9 box. In the installation process I am to install MySQL. In the directions it reads: In /root edit the .bash_profile file so the PATH line to read as follows: PATH=$PATH...... But I don't have a .bash_profile anywhere?!? Help Please!

It could also be called .bashrc

If you don't have either, you can either create one and edit accordingly or just edit the global bash startup file, in /etc/profile

Welcome to LQ.

I would be very surprised if it isn't there - by default files beginning with a "." are hidden. Try:
ls -a /root/.b*

cat /root/.bash_profile
