Installing Mandriva Spring

I burned the iso that i go off a cover disc.

If I install, it gets to a point where it asks for disc 2. If I click cancel, I get into an endless loop of asking for disk 2. if I click ok I get into endless loop asking for disk 2.

If I install by selcting to copy files to hard drive first, it appears to install ok BUT when booting there is no entry in my boot menu for Mandriva.

In the bit where I have to configure grub, my existing system (winxp, ubuntu, PCLOS,) are detected. If i choose to add an entry and call it mandriva,no kernel shows up, so I can't add to the boot menu.

Booting up in PCLOS and going to the mandriva partittion and into /boot, there is no kernel installed.

What went wrong and how might I fix it?

I would suggest you download Mandriva One 2008.1 (get it here:, it's a single cdrom iso. It will run as a live cd, you can install it from the desktop and add the repositories later to give you access to the extra software available. I have nothing but problems when using cover discs.
