Installing Mandrake onto Win2K
 

I know that Mandrake 8.2 will install onto Win95/98/ME using F1 and lnx4win, but Can i do this with Mandrake 9.0 on a Win2k machine, or should i just resign myself to purchasing VMWare? I don't want a dualboot system. That is not what I'm trying for.

I agree that a dual boot isn't an elegant solution.

If I were you, I'd rather resign myself to eradicate M$ from my system.

Most of us did it ... and are not disapointed :D

I choose to maintain using Win2K advanced Server, since at the moment I am going for a PC Tech degree in college, and one of the classes I have this semester deals with IIS and Exchange. SO I am looking for other options to this. I dont want to BLOW away MS at the moment since I also play games on said computer and since there are no decent Windows emulators for Linux at the moment I stick with Windows ;).

I have Win2k server and Mandrake 9.0 on the same machine and they co-exist peacefully. I too need to keep Win2K for now as I'm studying for MCSA with Linux certification to follow. Also, the network at my workplace is Win2K based and I'm hoping to migrate as many desktops as possible from Win98 to Linux, so having both on a test machine is needed. I"m trying to determine now which is the best distro for my workplace desktops. MDK 9.0 has been a very install, but the new SuSE Desktop edition, just released this week also looks very promising.

I asked about how i could do it without dual booting. I have too much going on with the WIN2K server to shut it down. I know it should dual boot fine, Once again that is not what I want to do. I want it to run like mandrake 8.2 can, and I want to know if anyone has done it.

if u have services running in win2k, I wouldnt use that machine as desktop or experimentating. I suggset u should try migrating it to linux maybe.
