Installing Mandrake on Laptop
I'd like to install Mandrake 9.1 on my laptop. My main OS is WinXP and I created two extra parttions (Linux +swap) using Partition Magic. I boot up using Cd on my external CD-RW/DVD (firewire) and then I get a message that "CD Rom not found". I also tried to do the installation from FTP as I have an FTP server on my home network (192.168.0.2:7000) but don't know how to set up the network setting in the Mandrake installation.
Can anyone help please? |
You create a boot floppy disk using the net.img (or something close to that) in the /image directory of the 1st CD.
To create the floppy disk use the windows application called rawritewin.exe in the /dosutils directory of the 1st CD. For documentation for a network install go to Mandrakes website. www.linux-mandrake.com. |
I am sorry I forgot to mentioned that I have no floppy, not even external.

I don't know of an easy way to boot without one.
