So I can't check this dmesg log until linux is installed? Hmm, that's a problem. I don't want to download another linux unless I know it will be able to see SATA drives straight from the install.

Well, I'll give it another go this weekend, and try a text install.

Otherwise I might d/l Suse8.2 and try that.

Cheers,
Radish

You should be able to view it from any command prompt you can get to (I think) even in the middle of an install - but don't hold me to that ;-)

OS ON RAID

Just wanted to say electro, you are missing out on a different world mate if you don't put your OS on raid array. I have never seen performace like it, my WIndows XP is on a raid 0 SATA array and it installed in about 20 mins !

Runs sweet as a nut and you can still Ghost it and install back on a traditional system if required.

I haven't tried to install linux on sata raid yet, but maybe I'll give it a try someday

Alright people.
Since I didn't have the 3rd disk, and may need it, I started looking to download it, and stumbled across a local copy of the 9.1 iso's at work. So I downloaded and burnt those, and whaddya know? It worked like a dream.
Detected and installed fine.

So there ya go, for anyone in the same boat, Mandrake 9.1 works sweet.

Thanks for the help all,
Radish
