Installing Mandrake
New to linux
I downloaded mandrakelinux-10.0community-downloadCD1.i586 I have all the folders and files What do i look for as far as setup files to start the install? I am installing to a dual boot fresh partition with Win98 installed Any help is appreciated Thanks |
Did you download the isos and burn them to cd? If you did, just put cd 1 into your drive and reboot. If you bios is configured correctly (it should be if it's modern) then the cd will launch a nice little installation for mandrake.

Actually there are problems with install CD1 being able to boot so you need to download and burn CD2 as an ISO and boot with that. After it loads the kernel it will ask you what you want to install from (CD or FTP), choose CD and it will tell you it can't find the installation CD do you want to try another, here is where you take CD2 out and put CD1 in and hit OK. It will start the install process from the beginning and you will be good to go.
