Most distributions that come on CD come with a utility to make a boot floppy. Look on disk 1 under dosutils. The biggest question is if you have the means of reading a Linux CD.

Here's how to make a boot floppy for Mandriva 2006 (as an examle - it's what I use) (warning - this is strickly from memory - I haven't used rawrite for a while):

run <CDROM>\dosutils\rawrite.exe in windows or dos.
enter "install\images\cdrom.img" when asked for a floppy image.
enter the dos drive letter of your floppy when prompted.
When it's finished, you will have a floppy that will boot linux, and start the installation from the first cd.

Good Luck!
Good luck

And welcome to LQ!

Most distros will still offer you the possibility to create a boot and
a root-disk from within a DOS environment of which you then can start of
the installation and access the CD-ROM.

P.S.: Heh - that's what you get if you do a couple of things
at the same time ;} ... beat to it!

boot, floppy
