installing linux problem/wiping it out

Hi Everyone. I'm new here.

Many months ago I tried to install Linux 8.0 on my girlfriends older computer. It was pretty easy, however there is a problem and it does not shut down properly. It could be a problem with the computer. After that I forgot about it and didn't mess around with it since.

What i'd like to do with it is to wipe linux off of the computer completly, and possibly start over depending on if I think the computers even worth it. Since It was so long ago, I don't remember my name and password to log onto the computer either. Can anyone help me out with wiping everything off of it?

If you are going to install another OS, then just boot up your computer with that disk, follow the installation instruction and away you go. During the installation, it will ask you if you want to format your hardrive, and I would suggest that you do that.
Hope this helps.
