I just plugged a 1.5tb seagate external hard drive into a usb hub thats plugged into the mk802 and it worked great. I have had power directly hooked AC to the mk802 this whole time by the way...

Yeah, makes sense. Any ideas on how to update with the right drivers?
To start with, could you run 'lsusb' and 'lspci' on the box and paste the output?
Ok, I am very new to linux/ubuntu. Whats the best way to run those?
You can run them in any terminal. I can't recall what the name of the terminal provided in Ubuntu is. If you don't have ethernet setup, you should still be able to copy the output from the terminal into a text file, then copy that to a thumb drive to move over to your desktop.

Any idea where in ubuntu those are though?

Yeah I know where the terminal is, but once thats opened whats the best way to find/launch 'lsusb' and 'lspci'
They are commands, much like using dd yesterday, just type them at the prompt and hit enter.
ahhh... my bad. I will post results soon

I found "USB: 0BDA:8176 Realtek Semiconductor Corp. RTL8188CUS 802.11n WLAN Adapter USB:" on http://wiki.debian.org/rtl819x that make me think it was a realtek 8188cus? although the MK802 isn't advertised as having a 802.11n card, so I'm not sure.
