Installing linux on GA-K8NS Pro MB

I'm trying to set up Debian currently (gave up on Gentoo, it wouldn't even get past the loading screen for my computer) on a nice amd 64 GA-K8NS Pro mb... my current problem is with the Lan not working. the k8 has a Marvel 100/100/10 lan, and when I tried lpsci I got like... unknown, not found, or whatever and a number: 4320 I think. If anyone has set up either Gentoo or Debian on this MB, or knows how to fix it, that'd be great!!

I am running both GNUs with k8 based motherboard that includes maverell yukon(1000/100/10) as network card. No problems. Gentoo is fastest to configure. just get sk98lin driver loaded with modprobe and then do net-setup eth0 in gentoo. debian should configure this automaticly if you're using debian installer.

My Gentoo liveCD won't boot.... I keep getting an error, Boot Warning: can't open /etc/mtab" No such file or directory then it freezes... Also, my keyboard stops working after I start installing gentoo...

If you're using amd64 live cd of gentoo then get the newest one. It is still pritty experiemental and it do have problems. 2004.3 is newest gentoo amd64 live cd. I have problems with 2004.2 but it works fine. If you don't success at first time booting it then do hard resert for your machine and load gentoo live cd directly after that (do not take livecd out of cd-drive when rebooting...)

2004.3 includes better support for gcc-3.4 while other livecds are based on gcc-3.3, 3.4 includes lot's of amd64 stuff and it works better than older gccs.

I have the 2004.3 liveCD, and I've tried pretty much everything short of melting the CD down and pouring it into my computer... and it just can't make it past the booting message... although ... I did manage to delete my MBR while messing around with that...
