Installing Linux Mint into a Compaq Presarion X-1000 Failure
I tried to install Mint into my older laptop with CD, it was not successful. I went into it via F-10 key at start up and chose the boot from disk mode. What am I doing wrong? Being the noob that I am, could someone explain to me, step by step how to install the OS. I purchased the disk from OS disk and have had good luck installing on my other computer. I posted this on the other forum with no success so I'm hoping to get help with this here.
Thanking you in advance, Bruce |
How far did you get? Were you able to boot it into live mode?

What are the hardware specs of this old computer?
|
Which release of Mint are you using? Even the xfce version of the current Mint 1.2GB and won't fit on a CD.

Mint may be way too much for what the PC can handle. |
Thank you...Yes those specs are correct. RAM is 512MB.
Again, Thank you. B |
Mint is likely to much for your system. Look at one of the lighter distros such as MX-14...
