installing limewire

I have absolutely no idea where to start. I am trying to install limewire, so I went to the origional website. I don't know which one to download, what to do with the package I get, how to configure it, or if there is another way (I think I installed it earlyer, but needed to re-install and don't remember how it went the first time)

Well, 1... It would help a lot to know what distro you're using.

Then go to the link below and download the appropriate version and follow
the instructions...

what is a distro?

I tried, downloaded this zip file, and don't know what to do with it.

phantom_cyph 06-23-2007 07:15 PM

Lol. Distro is short for Linux Distribution. You are using Linux right?

sithtwinkee 06-23-2007 07:38 PM

i'm using the latest version of mandriva

phantom_cyph 06-23-2007 08:50 PM

You need an rpm file for that.

Its been ages since I used Mandriva, but I think you can download the .rpm for Redhat/Fedora, and it should work with Mandriva.

IF thats the case(wait for someone to verify it), go to the link I posted above, choose get basic, promise not to do anything illegal, then download the one that says redhat/fedora beside it(you can try to compile it with the file you downloaded, but from the sounds of it, you may not be ready)

Better still get the Pro version, for free. gone
The zip file contains Limewire Pro for all platforms namely Linux, Mac and Windows. The Linux installer is both in RPM and source format.

phantom_cyph 06-23-2007 10:32 PM

Thats interesting...for a minute shrikant I thought you were advertising cracked software...

XavierP 06-24-2007 08:28 AM

Pro actually costs $18.88 and if you want a version that won't eat all your data and turn you into a bot you should get it from the legitimate Limewire site.

People who put links to cracked or otherwise illegal copies on a public forum noted for it's honesty, particularly if they themselves tend to not like it when others do it, are just being big sillies.

Right Shrikant?

Hitboxx 06-24-2007 01:10 PM

What?!?! It was cracked? Sorry I didn't know but its open source and I thought.... aww shuckz! Won't happen again.

EDIT: And if you may please edit the link here too( in the Quote) http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...d.php?t=562306
